A Good Place to Work: Balancing Personal and Professional Lives
Workplaces and people’s expectations for working life are changing fast. If you were CEO, what would your company look like?
Previous generations spend most of their adult life at work. From factories to offices, from open fields to deep-seas, and from urban spaces to nature reserves, these environments defined daily life.
There are now robots in factories and on farms. People are comfortable at events that happen online and in person. Even medical consultation is often digital.
Digital technology also ushered in a new era where work can get done anywhere. Instead of a work-life balance, some today call it a work-life “blend”.
Younger workers say that having the ability to manage their working time is the numberone factor in choosing an employer. The same people will soon to account for more than half the global workforce, making this a good moment to re-open the question of how we design working life.
