Stories from urban and rural areas to challenge stereotypes, amplify local voices, and build empathy and understanding.
With the world’s population increasing, rural exodus and urban expansion are inevitable. Dignified storytelling can bring insights into the complex realities and challenges faced by people living in both urban and rural settings. It offers a space for reflection, to help address issues of urban and rural development by local authorities, policymakers, communities and governments. This event hopes to foster a common understanding of how storytelling can maintain the voice, integrity and dignity of all people and their communities, as well as provide a platform for storytellers and urban and rural development experts to discuss how stories from urban and rural areas can challenge stereotypes, amplify local voices, unpack nuances and complexities, and build empathy and understanding.
