If you had a chance to inhabit another planet, what would you do differently to make it a healthy habitat for humans?
In April 2020, NASA scientists announced they had discovered an Earth-like
planet named Kepler-1649c, which could potentially support human life. Located 300 light years away from us, this one though may not yet qualify for the title of “Planet B”. And neither do any of the other 4200 “exoplanets” thus far discovered, in spite of their potentially similar attributes to Earth.
As we explore new worlds in the Universe, whether, when and how we may inhabit another planet is an incredibly fascinating question. Should space exploration progress to allow us such a prospect some day, an even more fascinating question will be how differently we would begin that new life on a new planet, and what rules we would set to build a more harmonious relationship with our new environment.
