In February 1968, this nation's founding fathers met under a desert tent and shared an idea that would turn into something truly great: the United Arab Emirates. Animated by this spirit of collaboration, The Good Place by Expo Live is an exhibition space dedicated to showcasing human potential and those who work to advance it – through the Expo Live innovation and partnership programme and beyond.

With a design inspired by the tent where the UAE was conceived, the pavilion showcases social innovations conceived to improve our lives. Come and meet ordinary people doing extraordinary things – and be inspired to join our global community.

Designed by renowned Emirati architect Ahmad Abdulrahman Bukhash, The Good Place’s structure expands the Bedouin tent shape into an elegant white canopy, folded with seven origami-like angles on each side to join at a tall peak. The tent seems to float over a clean, glass box.

During this Theme Week, Expo will present and celebrate the knowledge, culture and heritage of all our participating nations, bringing them together under the UAE’s Golden Jubilee theme of Human Solidarity. The many islands of the Philippines are a coral lover’s paradise, home to 26,000 square kilometres of biodiverse reefs. Now, you can take your own “dive” through the nation’s aquatic wonderlands at the Philippines Pavilion, an imaginative coral village packed with artistic wonders and a powerful message about safeguarding marine life.

The pavilion’s bold, free-flowing design simulates the coral ecosystem, while light filtering and other effects lend it all a magically oceanic feel.

Taking inspiration from the island nation’s pristine coral reefs, the Philippines Pavilion is a multi-level collection of stacked, open-air mesh structures that curve around palm trees, tropical gardens and small exhibit areas. The pavilion’s many coral-like formations, which resemble huge, rounded, open-topped containers, are made from a lattice of grey graphite wire. The structures layer on top of each other in irregular shapes, creating a free-flowing space full of shaded passages, projected digital exhibitions and gardens to explore.

At The Opportunity Pavilion, you will embark on a globe-spanning “Mission Possible” to help achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, showing how everyone has the power to make a difference.

From your “mission briefing” onward, you will connect with three inspiring people in their quests to unlock opportunity. They will take you to their communities in the UAE, Peru, and Zanzibar and – through storytelling and gameplay – you will learn how small actions have a big impact.

The American University in the Emirates will be celebrating the success of its students as they host an extra special graduation ceremony, live from the Jubilee Stage at Expo 2020 Dubai.

With a striking design inspired by fossilised sand dunes, Jubilee Stage is an open-air festival stage. Located in Jubilee Park, it hosts performances and large concerts.

Zara Rutherford, a 19-year old British-Belgian pilot, is attempting to become the youngest woman to fly solo around the world. Joined by special guests Aysha Alhameli, the UAE’s first female pilot, and Marwa Al Matrooshi, the first female Emirati Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO), Zara will be talking about how to encourage girls and young women to pursue their career dreams, particularly in the fields of STEM and aviation. The panel will be discussing the Gender Gap in relation to both career fields and also celebrating the achievements of female Emiratis in the UAE's 50 years. They will also hear more inspiring stories from Emirati pioneers in Aviation, who will share their experiences and struggles.
